Welcome to DownLog E/R, a utility designed to track where all those downloads on your machine are coming from. DownLog is available as a stand-alone application* or as a logging extension/reader application combination. Either way get the low-down on downloads with DownLog.
OPERATION of Extension/Reader Version:
To use DownLog simply drop the DownLog extension onto your system folder or in the extensions folder and restart. (Upon restart DownLog may request you locate your browser.) Once your Netscape browser is launched DownLog will monitor all traffic. When it detects downloading of files it will log the actual download URL, the referring URL and system date/time of download.
To view the log launch the DownLog Reader application. In the listbox to the left will be a list of downloaded files. To view the pertinent data for each file simply select it in the listbox. To the right in the top editfield will be the actual download URL, below that the referring page's URL and below that the system date and time when the file was actually downloaded.
By default log entries are arranged in descending chronological order. To view log entries in alphabetical order click 'Alpha', back to chronological order click 'Chrono.' To find a certain file name enter the string you wish to search for in the top editfield and then click 'F' to find, 'A' to find the next occurance if any.
To re-download a file choose it in the listbox then click 'Re-DL', to go back to the referring page click 'Re-Visit.'
Log entries can be deleted by picking them in the listbox or by using a built-in time elapsed feature. To delete individual log entries select them in the listbox and click 'Delete.' To choose mutiple entries hold down the shift key and click and drag to select contiguous files. To select multiple non-contiguous log entries hold down the command key during selection. To delete groups of log entries that are all of a certain age choose a selection from the 'Delete Range' popup menu, i.e. to delete all files more than one week old select '1 Week' and click 'Delete.' All log entries a week or older will be gone.
